It’s hard to be a woman today, especially a successful professional woman. We’ve made progress – tremendous progress if you ask our grandmothers – but we still have to work harder, be error-free, and put up with more criticism than the men we work with. We are told every day how to look, how to act, how to behave, what’s attractive and what’s too far. Is it any wonder so many of us keep silent screams bottled up inside? We deserve an outlet, a safe space to let all the control go. We need time to be our best selves…powerful…wild…free. We need time to celebrate our successes, lay down the stress, and renew ourselves. And what better place to do it than surrounded by women who feel exactly the same way, in some of the most beautiful places on earth?
Coming soon to a park near you…Prescribed Adventures:
In an age where problems are treated with pills, Your Adventure Rx is taking a very different approach – WELLNESS ADVENTURE!. We create unforgettable outdoor experiences, exclusively for women, leading them down a path towards positive mental health and every day wellness.
These experiences are not designed to be a quick fix but a way to change your outlook on life and build healthy living. When you start viewing wellness as a way of life rather than a commodity or goal to achieve, you will begin to see that healthy living can be fun and is more manageable. You’ll feel the difference it makes when you make good quality health choices in your life daily.
Despite all the resources, apps, etc. out there at our fingertips, we still struggle to maintain healthy habits. Many of us may even be dealing with serious health issues, which make healthy daily living even harder. Why is this?
Maybe you mistakenly got on the ‘busy’ train and don’t know how to get off. Jumping is not an option. We get caught up in being so ‘busy’ that we fail to just stop, and take a look around us. I, too, have been caught in the ‘busyness’ trap. It wasn’t until my mental and physical health took a shit that forced me to slow down and reflect on my life. Don’t wait until your mental and physical health fail to take charge of your life. Here are a couple ways to get off the ‘busy’ train, and onto the right train tracks of your life.
GTFO = Get The Freak Outside
It’s been proven in many research studies that spending time in nature improves your mental health and well being, even if it’s just for 10 minutes a day. Even if you walk around the neighborhood, just get outside. When was the last time you spent outdoors?
STOP
Believe it or not, slowing down can actually speed things up. For instance, when I teach a ski lesson, I take my client down a notch to work on specific skills. Sometimes we need to take a step backward to take a step forward. If we keep pushing forward without thought, we might trip, fall and spiral downwards and not make any headway at all. Try spending around 30-60 minutes a week to start to reflect on what you need to do for the week, and build a schedule where you can be proactive instead of reactive.
Prescribe Yourself An Adventure
Our programs are specially designed for participants who are struggling with minor mental health issues such as anxiety. Workshops will track progress on personal resilience, self-efficacy, social skills, and confidence and over all well-being. Utilizing the combination of the outdoor experiences and exercise will aid in overcoming personal issues and difficulties while on the trail to good health.
Starting this spring we will be hosting a series of events designed for women who are struggling with anxiety and beyond. A licensed counselor will participate in many sessions and we will work on eliminating fears holding you back your daily life. These programs will follow HIPPA guidelines so your privacy will be protected.
Your Adventure Rx will personalize your adventure prescription to make daily wellness a bigger part of your daily life.
